Dave Gadbois (Gad-boy) started his DJ career in the Chicago area, listening to the Hot Mix 5 on WBMX and WGCI. This early exposure to the innovative and cutting edge sounds of the beat mixers sparked a desire to become a DJ and later to produce his own music. They were the initial inspiration for Dave's creation of his own style and sound. After years of club DJing in a variety of cities across the nation, Dave attended the 1990 International DJ convention in Chicago, hosted by DJ Times. This was a critical juncture for Dave as he decided he wanted to "make the music" as well as play it.

His early career included producing approximately 75 remixes for Hot Tracks, and X-Mix Remix services. Working with these two remix services led to work with both independent and major record labels and full production remixes. One such track, Jana's "Stairway to Heaven" on Radical Records, reached 15 on Billboard's Dance sales and received a "Song of the Year" Native American Music Awards Grammy. This was the first time a top 40 song won the award.

More recently, the Gadbois sound has been heard in night clubs and on radio stations around the world. He has worked and continues to produce for such artists as LA based ElleeVen, and Vancouver native JANAJANA, both of whom have charted well with tracks by Gadbois. For Gadbois, the highlight of the 2006 year came when international recording superstar, Claudja Barry, asked Gadbois to produce a mix. This track, "I Will Stand," was the first release from her new album, and peaked at number 4 on the Billboard Dance charts.

In addition to producing and DJing, Gadbois has been a DJ Times reporter for 7 years. He remains active as a panelist and guest speaker at the yearly International DJ Times Convention, where he enjoys sharing his experience and encouraging young DJs and future producers. So what is the Gadbois sound? Dave doesn't subscribe to the "template mix" concept and wants to create music that can be played from the cutting edge clubs of New York and Los Angeles to the smaller night clubs in middle America. "I am a producer who happens to produce dance music, right now. In my mind, being a producer means being flexible and working with all types of music. I let the song talk to me. My experience in the industry allows me to incorporate different styles and genres to create a unique "Gadbois" sound."
